EUROSOCCER NOTTINGHAMSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE: DIVISION ONE
CLIFTON ALL WHITES RESERVES 1 PMG EXCEL 3
As many will know its been a awful few months for me health wise, only attending 4 matches in 4 months, but with the sun shining, I was feeling ok and went to Clifton All Whites Reserves to present them with Eurosoccers Nottinghamshire Senior League Team of the Month for February 2026, having a unbeaten record in the past 8 games, ssscoring good fair play marks from their opponents, but as usual when I turn up with the award, the curse strikes and so it did today!
On arrival, me and Hazel was met by the club chair's brother who kindly filled out flasks and then I did a video interview(for the Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Facebook site. Before Hazel doing the honours of taking the home side's teamphoto before their last home game of the season.
Todays referee arrived James Spriggs and we had a quick chat as the teamsheets came in and he warmed up.
The match kicked off at a frantic pace with both sides attacking from end to end but no shots for either keeper to save in the bright sunshine, but on 23 minutes, a beautiful played long ball from the halfway line found NOAH TESFELEM to run on to just outside the penalty area and clip the ball over the outcoming goalkeeper in the Clifton net, to give the visitors the lead.
Clifton pushed forward and could well have been on equal terms when after 39 minutes, a ball played across the 6 yard box from the right side, saw the home forward just not to connect to the ball and the chance went amiss.
For the Second Half, Clifton made a change in tactics moving thier number 5 out of defence in to midfield and bring on a sub, but PMG seemed to up their game abit and several runs down the left side saw a few shot saved by the home keeper, but in the 55th minute, he could do little, when a corner from the left side, came to the middle of the penalty are for CHARLES CHIBUKIRA to produce a splendid overhead kick to make it 0-2 to Excel.
Lots of subs were made and both teams who must be the youngest squads in Division One, went from end to end again with both having good chances, with both keepers being in the thick of the action and some chances just going wide.
86 minutes on the clock and PMG put the game to bed, when from the left wing CHARLES CHIBUKIRA weaved in and out and in to the box before slotting past the home keeper at the near post to extend his teams advantage.
Clifton didnt give up and in injury time, a quick move down the left side, saw GEORGE BURROWS finish well, but it was too late for a come back.
A very good fast match played in the right sprirt by two very good young footballing teams, also a good performance by the referee James Spriggs.
