Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Two
GREYFRIARS FC 3 CALVERTON MINERS WELFARE FC 0
Attendance 15
Well having not posted for a while as just under 2 weeks ago, I fell on to the bed with no feeling on my left side, Hazel rang for a ambulance and was told a three hour wait, so she helped me in to the car and took me to Kings Mill Hospital, the receptionist rushed through and a nurse pushed me through in a wheelchair through to majors, where I underwent all sorts of tests and xrays, as I was waiting to go for a scan, Hazel went home as I was getting feeling back and they told us I had possibly had a mini stroke. Within 10 minutes of her going home a porter came and said I was going up to ward B36, where tyhey put me on a machine and a drip.
On the Wednesday evening, I went to the loo on the ward and had a fit, where I had crashed me head on something hard, all I recall is some nurses saying we will roll on 3 the next thing I was in bed on a scoop and blocks round my neck and being rushed down for a emergency scan. On Thursday Morning, a doctor came to see me and said Id not had a mini stroke or it was highly unlikely and the results from the c scan was good and bad, the good news, no broken bones or bleed on the brain, the bad was that they have found cancer in my nymph nodes, they were sending me home to be with my family on Thursday for 2 ro 3 weeks then going to do another CT Scan to see how quickly the cancer is spreading.
I have been sleeping alot and feeling very tired and yesterday was the firwst time, Id got out of bed before 4pm and strolled round the bungalow.
Todays match should have taken place at Greyfrairs FC ground of Burton Road but sadly last weekend, it was flooded and so they had to mo0ve venues, a lot of hoppers have visited Gresham many times to watch the likes of Nottingham United and FC Sez, so iot really did hit the attendance, but I needed to get out and get some fresh air, though I was very worried that I may feel unwell at the mmatch or breakdown talking to someone, with my mind not in the right place.
Hazel did some cobs and also bought some cans of pop and Hazel and Shawn proudly ran the stall and gave me time to speak to the few hoppers and match referee, also FC Pelican were playing a League Cup Tie on the new 4g pitch the other side of the ground.
I joined the hoppers on kick off and it seemed to be one way traffic as Greyfrairs pressed forward, attack after attack but every shot went in to the side netting or the young Calverton keeper was equal to.
In the 27th minute, the ref Ray Fergusson who had a great game may I add, blew his whistle and pointed to the spot, no one argued but none of the hoppers didnt see anything, but if players dont appeal then something must have happened, plus the ref is a lot closer to the action than to us on a sideline. Up stepped LUKE HALLAM who blasted the home side in front.
Calverton then began to push forward themselves but they were net by a strong back four of green shirts to keep them at bay as my feet and my hands were beginning to get very cold on the banks of the River Trent. The game flowed end to end with no real shots aat one stage and one hopper remarked how regualar the trams ran past and they ran past more than the shots we had seen in the game, as soon as he said that in the 43rd minute, a cross from the right made its ways to JOSH ASUMAN to slide home Greyfriars second goal of the match.
Rock bottom Calverton made a few subs and this seemed to liven up the game with them having a bit more success in midfield but the final ball was missing, but midway through the 2nd half both teams had made most of their subs and hee Greens were back on the frint foot smashing a 30 yard on to the crossbar and bouncing down jusst behind a attacker in the 6 yard box, then Calverton's man of the match Gabrial Reist pulled off save after save to keep the arrears at just 2-0, but with the referee indicatin g just 3 minutes left in the game, a Greyfriars free kick found its way in to the far side of the area, then bobbled in to the area before LUKE HALLAM acrobatally overhead kicked the ball in to the net to make it 3-0.
A BIG THANKYOU to the hoppers that attended as always, the next mini hop game will be Saturday 5th April with a 3pm kick off at East Leake Robins v AC United 3pm, I do know there is a lot of interest in people visiting this match as a lot of hoppers havent attended the new East Leake venue. I will be doing East Leake Robins FC 1st ever programme and both clubs will be having their first ever badges done, so if you are interested in any, then please contact me on hornby60uk@yahoo.co.uk I do also send out via post.
