Not having seen much of the match, as we set the programme and badge stall under cover where pitch 2 was round several corners to find, I thought I would ask Hull based Groundhopper Dave Philipson to write about his day, so Id like to thank him and he has added a few photos on Facebook as well.

I will of course take back over the blog at the end of how much we raised and a running total for Sam's Workplace and if you would like to make a donation to the Charity Blog.

The latest of Rob Hornby's excellent NSL Groundhop Days took place today, this time at Division Three side Trent Vineyard. On a damp, drizzly day, the trip didn't get off to the best of starts, with the train from Hull setting off 20 minutes late, meaning I missed my original connection in Sheffield. Changing at Sheffield and Derby, I arrived in Beeston around fifty minutes late, but still with enough time tto wandwr round Beeston, beforre making my way to the ground. The ground is part of the Chilwell Olympia Sports Centre, situated behind Chilwell School, and consists of around five football pitches. This game took place on pitch no 2, and was roped off on the far side, with hedges behind, whilst the rest was just grass standing. The game was very competitive, with both sides having chances on what was a fairly heavy pitch. It was the visitors who broke the deadlock after 25 minutes, with a fine headed goal from Connaire Seery. They doubled their lead in the 65th minute through Luke Hallam, before Trent Vineyard pulled a goal back with Samuel Ageyi scoring. However, the visitors made sure of all three points in the 75th minute , when substitute Ryan Robinson scored to give the viditors a 3-1 victory. An excellent day out, despite the weather, and thanks must go to my friend Rob Hornby for yet another well organised Groundhop Day.

The next Groundhop Day will be in a while due to my daughter having a baby around March time, so it will be next season no doubt before I choose a club to have their first ever programme and badge done.

With inks and paper taken out, the charity raised in total £81 but the running total for Sam's Workplace stands at a giant £3,187.32p, so can we hot the next target of £3,200 not too far away.

With me and Hazel extending our midweek to a week break away, i looked in to Football Traveller for a match today and with this being a local derby, where the 2 villages actually run in to each other, though it may be a good cup tie to watch and a early finish due to the 1.30pm kick off. Whilst at Horncastle Town  FC last night I ran into the Grimoldsby Founder and Manager Rob.

The sat Nav was very good today and took us to the ground just short to the east of Louth, though did stop for breakfast in Louth at a cafe named Beverleys,  which after the match in the pub, found that one of the players mums owned it and of course served us.

The ground has plenty of parking at the front and back of the commuunity centre and houses the changing rooms and also a little room for teas and coffees.

After a minutes silence, the game kicked off and I was a bit worried that I may just see a landslide of goals, with the hosts close to bottowm, whilst the visitors sitting second in the table. I did mention that I couldnt see it going to extra time and penalties, then was told, it wouldnt as it was the first leg, so it was something different.

Last night at Horncastle, none of the keepers had to make a save, here that didnt last as the home keeper managed to push a shot around the post.

The teams were matching each other all over the pitch and reached half time at 0-0.

The Second Half both teams used subs and alter tactics to get a break through goal and both were in attack mode, but after 69 minutes, the visitors were awarded a free kick to the left hand side oif the halfway line that Luke Haagensen swung in to the home penalty and it fell to ELLIS BARKER to bungle home from inside the 6 yard box.

The homesters pressed forward and in the 78th minute, ttwo players went for the ball in the Manby penalty with the home team appealing strongly for a penalty but the young referee was having none of it and waved play on.

At Full Time, Manby FC knew they'd been  in a tough match and The Grims could well have been going in to the Second Leg on level terms, but it is advantage to Munby FC and result I will be looking out for.

Both sides went into the match sitting towardss the lower position of the Division, so every point counted for them.

Before the match was a minutes ssilence for remembrance weekend.

The game kicked off with the homesters pouring forward and the visitors defending well, but after 18 minutes, a scramble in the visitors area wasnt cleared far and AIDEN WILLERTON fired home a low shot from the edge of the penalty area to the deiight of the Castle's supporters.

The game then went from box to box with both sides cancelling each other out, until on the half hour, when REECE HARBUCKLE burst inbetween two home defenders to hit a shot from 25 yards in to the net to make it 1-1.

The Second Half followed a similar p[attern to the first half, with both team failing to make either keeper in to a save, both teams were both trying to play through balls but it was a defenders night as they were cutting out any chances.

Horncastle FC is a worthy ground to visit and run by friendly people.

I felt the Referee and his  two assistants had good matches and I felt that Fulbeck's sweeper BILLY STUBBS was man of the match.

SHEEN SENDS GINGERBREADS TO THE TOP

CLIFTON ALL WHITES RESERVES 0 GRANTHAM TOWN RESERVES 1

Grantham Town Reserves were awarded the Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Team of the Month for September before this game.

Clifton All Whites Reserves have a very young 16 to 19 year olds team, so how would they match up to todays opponents?

The game kicked off and within 7 seconds, the ball was cleared off the home sides line after the winger and attacker had gone up  for the ball and the winger laid on the pitch for quite a few minutes, but he was taken to the side ad treated and came back on after about 5 minutes.

Both sides were having chances but not really calling either goialkeeper in to action as shots and headers were going wide at both ends.

It was really a battling display by the homesters and as time ticked on, it looked like they were going to earn well deserved draw, but in the 70th minute, ALFIE SHEEN broke loose on the right wing beating the offside trap and slammed home a curling shot from just outside the area to give the visitors the lead.

The match Referee Phil Hale had a outstanding game, letting it flow end to end and using the advantage well.

UNBELIEVABLE CUP TIE

 EUROSOCCER NOTTINGHAMSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE JUNIOR CUP: 2nd ROUND

ROBIN HOOD COLTS FC 3 RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC U23'S 4

I was only intending in going to a morning match today until I noticed this cup tie on my way home that Hazel could drop me off at the other day, having not seen many of the sides in the Development Division gave me a chance in a cup tie, as Robin Hood Colts play in Division Three of the NSL whilst their visitors play in Pool B of the Development Division.

Ive always enjoyed visiting Robin Hood Colts ground, just on the heart of Edwinstowe, the home of Robin Hood himself, a quaint little village about 2 miles from my bungalow.

Robin Hood Colts play on the old Thoresby CW Ground, which is the top pitch from the changing rooms and has a large covered stand but only around 10 seats in it..The dug outs are quite far apart some you can see the game not like some grounds where they build a stand and put the dug outs in front of them.

I was greeted by both teams and got my flask filled by the Colts Manager Michael before the game and we were then worrying as time was closing towards kick off if the ref was to arrive, then we saw his little head appear from the car park, Ive known the ref Stuart for years and is always reliable.

The match kicked off and the Colts looked far too good for a very young Radcliffe team, but the visitors battled away with Colts on the front foot, but it take them 25 minutes to break them down when CHARLIE IRVING beat the offside trap and his near post shot beat the visiting keeper.

On 30 minutes, after he had served his 10 minutes in the sin bin, BAILEY GRIFFIN drifted down the left wing and slid the ball under the keeper to make it 2-0 to the Colts.

On the stroke of half time, the Hoods number 15 blasted the ball from 35 yards into the top corner of the net to make it a comfortable 3-0 half time lead.

I thought this was game over and thought no hope back for Olympic and I think the Colts m ust have thought the same thing as they seemed to relax but Olympic altered their formation and in the 52nd minute, there was a scramble in the Colts six yard box and DYLAN HARDY was first to put a clean foot through the ball to pull back a goal.

On the hour came goal of the game, when breaking down the left wing, a powerful shot by JACOB WILLIAMS hit the far corner of the net.

To everyones amazement on 64 minutes, Olympic were level, when a corner swung in by captain HARRY HANSON missed everyone and went straight in to the net to equal the scores.

Colts pressed forward and the tie went too and frow with both teams giving it all, with many chances just going amiss.

As most of us was looking at our stopwatches, waiting for the final whistle and off for the penalties, in the final seconds of the match, JACOB WILLIAMS timed his run from his own half and beat off two defenders before lifting the ball over the home keepers head to snanth a late dramatic winner.

LINBY DEVELOPMENT GET FIRST WIN IN FASHION

WALESBY U23'S 0 - 12 LINBY CW DEVELOPMENT

Not often I get 2 matches in a day, but the temptation was there today with just the grounds 3 miles apart and 5 miles from my house.

Going in to this mornings match, both sides were winless, so I wasnt really sure what to expect, the game was played where the now defunct NSL club Sandhurst FC used to play and their ex reserve manager has entered Walesby in to the Development League.

The game kicked off and it was Walesby who had the first chance after a minute, forcing the visiting keeper in to a low save, but that was the wake up call that the visitors needed, as after just 3 minutes, when JOBE SINGLETON dispatched a penalty. The visitors kept pouring forward and 14 minutes, the home keeper went to clear the ball, it hit CORY HARDWICK and looped over his head and in to the net.

Two minutes, worse was to come for the homesters as they went three nill down, as a cross from the left side was tapped home at the far post by TAYLOR BEAVIS. On 24 minutes it was 4-0 to the visitors when JOBE SINGLETON rifled home a shot from just outside the area.

Walesby had a bit of possession play but no clear chances on goal, as the visitors defence held firm and on 35 minutes came a breakaway goal by Linby's CORY HARDWICK.

In the 42nd minute, a goalbound shot was saved by one of the home defenders, so the referee Simon Reast had no alternative but to show the player a red card. Up stepped COLE HERMAN to slot away. Just on half time, a high looping  shot that looked like it was going nowhere from COLE HERMAN just dropped over the home keepers head and in to the back of the net to give the visitors a 7-0 h alf time lead.

On 50 minutes it was 8-0, when CORY HARDWICK became the 1st Linby player to score his hat trick, Two minutes later COLE HERMAN followed suit when chipping the keeper to make it 9-0.

Linby then was knocking the ball around  tiring the ten men of Walesby but worse for the yellows were to come, as in the 66th minute, Linby were awarded another penalty and ISAAC ROBINSON-PARKER made it 10-0, but a Walesby defender was then sent to the sin bin for something he had said.

On 73 minutes, nine men Walesby couldnt stop Linby sub CIAN SIMPSON with a 11th goal and I was starting to wonder how many more goals would be scored in this match and I didnt have to wait long when CIAN SIMPSON ran through and made it 12-0 after 79 minutes. The last 11 minutes was played out without anymore goals and the game was played in good spirit and the referee Simon Reast had a very good game

 CHARITY BLOG ANNOUNCEMENT

Many will be aware that Ive run the charity Blog for 16 years now and always choose a charity in advance, just before heading to Cornwall for our annual holiday, I got a bank statement from Lloyds to say they had been charging me £4.75p per month as it was a business account and would not be able to alter it to a another account with the charity blogs name, infact the person I saw was very rude, so I closed down the account and put it in to a account at Halifax that I hardly use. Lloyds were telling me that for it to be a charity account I weould have to raise £6000 a year, which Ive never got anywhere near and my point was why should people donate for them to take £60 a year from what I was raising money for.

The account at Halifax is under my name and they said the same, but people do know me and I do a running total of each penny raised on the blog, so it matches the total I hand over.

When returning from Cornwall came the second shock and that was the Autism Awareness shop had closed down due to the rise in rent and lack of volenteers, so to safeguard the £3,000 plus we have raised so far, I had to look at another project.

As many of you know my son Shawn who has autism, he whilst at a special needs college would work for 2 days a week at a place called SAMS WORKPLACE. This gave Shawn alot of skills and confidence.

Sam's Workplace was set up 10 years ago, as Sam has downs and his parents like us would battle fo/r positions for our young adults.

What is Sam's Workplace..well it has a cafe which a loot of local workmen use for breakfast and locals pop in for a cuppa and a chat, but they have young adults there for 2 years, so this gives them experiance and then get another few young adults for 2 years. The cafe is also a old fashioned sweet shop, with sweets in the old fashioned tubs where kids from the local scholl pop in after school for their 20p mixes.

Upstairs is a office and some youngsters with special needs do their D of E or office skills they learn, they also have a set up living area, where they learn all with different special needs how to clean or make beds or make them independant.

They also have a farm, where the young adults pet the animals or even clean them, also the eggs the chickens lay, go back to the cafe and are on the breakfast or in boxes on the counter for peole to pop in and donate money for a box.

They also teach some of the young adults TITAN, which is where they take them on a bus and also go shopping in the town centre.

A couple of nights in the week, they have a boards game night where people with all disabilities turn up and have a cuppa or smoothie and play board games for a few hours.

I am sure you will agree that SAMS WORKPLACE is a excellent choice and hope that you will support me with donations, no matter how small
