YOUNG METHODISTS WIN THE JUNIOR LEAGUE CUP

EUROSOCCER NOTTINGHAMSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE JUNIOR CUP FINAL

CALVERTON MINERS WELFARE RESERVES 2 QUORN METHODISTS 2

AFTER EXTRA TIME 2 - 5

PLAYED AT KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE FC

ATT: 136

A thrilling Cup Final saw Quorn's fitness in extra time lift the cup.
In the first half of nprmall time, not a lot really happened and it was Calverton who in the 37th minute, struck the crossbar in the only real effort of the half.

The Second Half was a lot more lively, with Calverton taking the lead on 48 minutes, when a quick breakaway down the left, led to ADAM PARKINSON firing home from 25 yards. The Miners extended their lead on 68 minutes, when a route on attackfrom the keeper to thenleft side, saw the winger cross and RYAN BOWEN curl the ball past the Methodists keeper to double his sides lead.

Both sides made subs and on 74 minutes,. Quorn reduced the arrears through YUSSUF ADEDOYINn when he side footed the ball from 25 yards through a crowded area in to the corner of the net.

The Calverton ribbons were being placed on the cup as we went deep in to injury time and their keeper had just made a fantantic save pushing the ball out for a corner. The last gasp corner came in from the left side, with all Quorn players up and the Miners Keeper whho had been so solid all game spilled the ball that hit GODTIME AUDI on the chest and went over the line to even things up..Calverton looked deflated.

In to extra time and dthe first half of it, the Miners didnt get out of their area, as the young Methodists kept pouring forward with attack after attack, so it came as no surprise on 102 minutes, when they took the lead for the first time in th e Final, a short corner found OLIVER THOMAS who hammered the ball home.

On 108 minutes, it was 4-2 to Quorn when a ball from the left found man of the match YASIN BELLO to hammer home.

With the clock ticking down on 118 minutes, FRANK BANNISTER sealed the victory when he drove home from outside the penalty area.

We would like to thank everyone who had a go on the Charity Raffle, that made £22 and with the £1.75p from the 7 goals takes the running total to £3,266.82p for SAMS WORKPLACE who aid young adults with Special Needs.
