RESPECT SHOWN BEFORE EQUAL MATCH

Eurosoccer Notinghamshire Senior League: Division One

RUDDINGTON VILLAGE FC 1 BEESTON OLD BOYS 1

Having not been to Elm Park, the home of Ruddington Village FC for quite a while,I had a few raffle prizes to collect that side of the City and the 2-30pm ticked the boxes for me.

On arrival there was a cricket match taking place on the usual pitch, but there is a back pitch there, where ive never seen a game, so this was added bonus for me.

In the other car park  the assistant manager of Beeston OB who asked if it would ok for a minutes  silence,as one of their players had recently lost a child, I said I would let the home team know and inform the match referee when he arrived.

Fourty five minutes before kick off, I had both teamsheets and on arival they were their waiting for the referee Adrian Ford, who set a milestone by reffing his 1000th match earlier in the season.

Shawn carried my chair out to the half way line and both sets of players were lined up in a minutes silence of respect. Me and Shawn were then joined by Rushcliffe FC Chair Damian Hucker for the whole game.

The minutes silence took place by all

The game kicked off at a frantic pace with Ruddington playing short passes but perhaps taking one too many passes around the area and play for them breaking down, whilst Old Boys were causing me a bit of neck ache as their long high ball tactic seemed to be working for them.

On 19 minutes on a counter attack, it was the visitors who took the lead after 19 minutes when the ball was laid back for HARRY HILL to fire home.

Beeston were starting to create more chances and the home keeper had to be on sharp form to keep his side in the game.

Towards half time, Ruddington were beginning to get themselves in to shape and on 43 minutes they were level through KAIDEN BURKE-CAMPBELL when he cut in from the left side and shot across the keeper in to the corner of the net.

The Second Half was a very odd one, as I was convinced there would be a few more goals in this game, Ruddington opened up the brighter and just as you thought they had control of the game back would come the team from Beeston, so a draw was a fair reflection of the match.

At the end of the match Joe & Ann Dunstan donated £20 to the charity blogs running total

BEESTON CUT DOWN POOR CALVERTON

Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division One

BEESTON FC 7 CALVERTON MINERS WELFARE FC 0

I had been meaning to get down to Beeston's new home of football on Trent Vale Road for some time, since my last visit, a new clubhouse has been built with new changing rooms and grants obtained to do more work around the ground.

My friend Herbie & sue rang me to say they were going to the same match, I rang Steve the home secretary, but he hasnt been too well this week and asked if Hazel wouldnt mind opening the tea bar.

On arrival, Shawn helped put out the corner flags whilst Hazel got the kettle on, both teams were there and the ref Alistair Yates had got the teamsheets. A bench was moved to the side of the pitch for me to sit down on and Shawn was ready to be in full flow as the ball boy.

Calverton have struggled this season and in a lot of matches have only been able to name 10 players, infact in midweek they began with 11 players and had 3 go off injured, today they began with a bare 11 players which included the secretary playing in goal, as the usual keeper was away in Scotland.

The game kicked off and Calverton had a couple of attacks, but after just 2 minutes, the ball fell to DAVID DAMINABO who slotted home. Beeston had their tails up and pushed forward and the a ll was cleared off the calverton goal line several times and during the match the ball hit the woodwork 8 times, but the Oranges made it 2-0 on 15 minutes when GREGORY HALFORD turned and shot past the Miners keeper to double his teams lead.

Beeston then continued to press forward but careless shooting stopped them adding to their tally but on 39 minutes there was little Calverton could do to stop GREGORY HALFORD making it 3-0.

In the 41st minute, GREGORY HALFORD made it 4-0 when completing his hat trick.

After half time, Beeston made 3 made three quick substitutions, all of them being 16 year olds to give them match experiance.the majority of the game being played in the visitors half, though Calverton did see their best effort bounce off the bar.

Tired legs began to show for the away side and a couple of players who were injured midweek were struggling, but they were digging in, but on 71 minutes, the home teams captain JASON JUDD made it 5-0.

Meanwhile the visiting keeper was trying his best to keep the homesters at bay but on 75 minutes, it became 6-0 when GREGORY HALFORD fired home from a angle.

By now everytime the ball went out of the play, Calverton were taking their time to reduce the damage as much as they could, but there was still time for GREGORY HALFORD to score his fifth and his teams seventh on 87 minutes.

The game was played in good spirit and I felt the referee had a very good match.

After the match Hazel handed me £20 that Beeston Secretary Steve Hyde had kindly donated to the Charity Blog which is in aid of the Childrens Bereavement Centre and with the 7 goals takes the running total to/ £118.00

DAVIES SEALS THE POINTS FOR TOWN

Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division One

HUCKNALL TOWN RESERVES 2 FC GEORDIE 0

A unusual pass out for a midweek game and not been to Watnall Road for quite a while, with Town's manager moving on and taking a few players with him, the new management have had to rebuild.

As I gt out the car, I spotted a chap taking photos and then realised it was local hopper Ben Thompson who collects badges and I had a few for him as I knew he was attending the game.

Got in to the clubhouse and got a cuppa before the hunt for the teamsheets and then met up just in time for kick off with local blog hero Malc Storer who sat with me for all the match.

The match kicked off and it was the small FC Geordie Secretary who had to name himself as goalkeeper due to a issue with family matters with their usual keeper, it was quite bright and warm, but the wind began to pick up and Malc was getting annoyed by the rattling well slamming of a plastic window at the back of us in the stand.

The crowd of 27 was treated to quite a even battle with both keepers playing well, but it took until the 30th minute before the deadlock was broken when Town's LEON OFOSU outjumped the Geordie keeper to force the ball home.

The start of the Second Half saw Geordie push more forward but not many of their shots were on target, but I kept saying to Malc, Hucknall need that second goal or Geordie will punish them, on 76 minutes that goal did come and what a goal it was worth waiting for, the ball was played over from the left side of the area and there was JENTZEN DAVIES who turned and spun and volleyed the ball past everyone to make it 2-0.

The game then faded out for the last 10 minutes until the ref blew for full time.

Straight on full time, Jentzen saw me with the camera and asked if I had got his goal, but sadly I hadnt, he was gutted, sadly when the floodlights go on, my camera just picks up glare.

After in the clubhouse, Darren Jubb of Hucknall Town Reserves kindly donated £5 to the Blogs charity which is Children Bereavemet Centre and with the 2 goals takes the running total to £96.25p.

47 photos from the match can be seen on this LINK

CHARITY BLOG FOOTBALL MATCH NSL V AC WOLLATON - SATURDAY JUNE 4TH 2022

On SATURDAY 4th JUNE 2022, there is to be a very special CHARITY MATCH with the majority of CLUBS in the EUROSOCCER NOTTINGHAMSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE supplying players to play against the mighty and well respected charity club AC WOLLATON. The CHARITY that I have chosen for the annual Charity Blog is the CHILDRENS BEREAVEMENT CENTRE.

With so many players offering their services to play for the NOTTINGHAMSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE, the match will be split in to 4 x 30 minute quarters, if I still have too many players there will be a extra match of NSL players called 2 teams of Melons and Lemons kicking off at around 12.45pm.

With the day being the ROYAL SATURDAY, we would love to see the kids dressed up as Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses on the day.

For NON PLAYERS and ALL ADULTS, admission is £3 but free for children.

We are trying to make it a family day with stalls like HOOK A DUCK, KICK THE BALL AT INFLATABLE DARTBOARD and a couple of stalls like a HOMEMADE CARD STALL as its FATHERS DAY 2 weeks after, also a JEWELERY STALL and SAMMY'S CHEESECAKES

Sadly I cant get anyone to come along to do face painting free of charge on the day for the kids in attendance.

Also we have THE BEEHIVE from Ollerton attending free of charge to bring along some characters like MICKEY & MINNIE MOUSE, RAPUNZEL and BEAUTY & THE BEAST, so your children can meet and greet them and have photos taken with them.

I am very grateful to CHRIS MUNROE and his backroom staff at BASFORD UNITED FC for donating to us the ground and their facilities for this very special day, also to Roberto the founder of AC WOLLATON and their players for involvement on the day

I have already put the raffle tickets out on sale, as there are over 100 prizes to be won and I will be listing them on here in the next couple of days with the sponsors names. I have set up a Bank Account called AROUNDTHEGROUNDS CHARITY BLOG, so if any one wishes to donate or buy any raffle tickets in advance then they can do.

The tickets are £1 each, the Charity Blog bank details are as follows:

AROUNDTHEGROUNDS CHARITY BLOG
sort code: 30-98-97
account: 70342862

then email me to let me know that payment has gone through and I can email you your ticket numbers and colour of tickets. email robhregnsl@hotmail.com

UPDATE:  Already 70 Raffle Tickets SOLD. The Raffle will be drawn after the match, so if you do buy tickets at the game, then if leaving then let my wife know and she will write your details on the back of the tickets, so we can contact you.

Also after the match will be a Auction, as we have been kindly gifted several very good items including a LEICESTER TIGERS SHIRT SIGNED BY JOE HEYES, LEICESTER TIGERS & ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL PLAYER, some crates of REAL ALE donated by CASTLE ROCK BREWERY and other items.

The Charity is a small charity, as I have posted on my blog, I lost my daughter 32 years ago now and I still think where she would be now, what job if Id have grandkids etc, then 12 years ago we buried our 5 day old grandson, he would have started senior school now.

Having spoken to quite a few players, they have opened up to me and told me they have lost children and not ever being able to talk about it and how hard it has also been for their partners/wifes.

Im hoping on the day for a massive turnout from ALL the NSL clubs and players who will come along and pay their £3 in and support their mates and of course all groundhoppers etc. Of couse the more that come out and watch, the more the Charity makes.

Here is a list of Raffle Prizes with still some more to come:(this is a list and NOT in any order yet though the hotel will be the top prize)

EASTER SATURDAY DRAW AT THE TOP AT BRINKLEY

Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division

SOUTHWELL CITY FC 1 STAPLEFORD TOWN FC 1

Att: 206

Around 5 years ago, Southwell City FC played a double header against Desford FC at Brinkley, a small village around a mile outside of Southwell, I remember the day well, as it was hot and the now built clubhouse that stands was just a shell and the wife Hazel ran the tea bar whilst Shawn found a squeaky wheelbarrow to keep him amused for the day picking up rubbish like a womble.

Earlier this season, Southwell City FC made the decision to make Brinkley their new home and have invested a lot with new changing rooms, new clubhouse and bar and also moved to another pitch that is railed and has a covered stand.

Today visiting Brinkley were other title contenders Stapleford Town FC in a three way finish with Woodthorpe Park Rangers FC fighting it out.

On arrival, Im met by both committees and soon got a cuppa and programme, whilst the car park gets full and the homesters soon open up the overflow car park to let in the crowd of 206. I then meet Andrew Shread for the first time, who explains to me about his drone and filming service that he provides and soon get the teamsheets to share with him.

I speak with a few groundhoppers who have arrived from all over the country, before I head over to the far side of the pitch, the game kicks off and both sides are playing the long ball tactic but the final ball just isnt there as both teams cancel each other out and to be honest the only near chance in the first half was the visitors hitting the post.

The Second Half begins very lively with Town straight on the attack down the right side and on 47 minutes the ball is fed through to SURAFEL TEFERA to slot his side in to a 1-0 lead.

Southwell then began to press forward and on 54 minutes thought they were back on level terms when from a free kick on the right hand side found Brad McDonald's head at the back post to nod home, but the assistant referee had flagged for a offside decision.

The battle was in full blood now as both sides were fighting for every ball but then City were to make things a big harder for themselves when they were reduced to 10 men as a player was sin binned for 10 minutes.

On 74 minutes from a corner there was a bit of pulling and pushing and the ball went back out for another corner, this  time, the Assistant Referee flagged and referee went over and pointed to the spot, much to the dislike of the Stapleford players and supporters, up stepped sub CHRIS BOWLES who made no mistake in making it 1-1.

Both sides now were going all out for the win and the Southwell keeper pulled out a top drawer effort, whilst Southwell had chip that just missed the top corner of the net.

During the match a gentlemen called Geoff ftom Southwell City kindly donated £5 to the Charity Blog and after the match Stapleford Town donated £20.. As many of you know by now the charity blog is for the Childrens Bereavement Centre and I have arranged a match at Basford United FC on Saturday 4th June between a NSL side which will include most of the NSL clubs and AC Wollaton(A charity team) Raffle tickets are on sale now as I have over 40 prizes. If anyone would like to buy any raffle tickets, then please mail me on robhregnsl@hotmail.com

REDS FINISH OFF HOME CAMPAIGN IN A 8 GOAL THRILLER

Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Two North

BLIDWORTH WELFARE RED FC 5 TRENT VINYARD FC 3

With Hazel away with her daughter in York for the weekend, it was a lads weekend, well father and son time, the idea we catch a bus to Nottingham and then  grab a breakfast and end up wherever, but sometimes simple plans like that just dont turn out, well what I mean is I slept in!

I looked at the fixture list and the only match we could get to was at Blidworth Welfare Red who play no where near Blidworth but explained all their history last time on the Blog when I visited them about a month ago, today they were hosting Trent Vineyard FC, both clubs play football in the right way and get on with things not complain, well thats all but the Reds keeper who grumbles more than the wife lol

On arrival we are greeted by John the Chair of the Reds who is sweeping the balcony as Shawn soon finds a seat and players begin to arrive, Trent Vineyard's Char arrives and in his head, he must be thinking not you again, as each time Ive seen them play, they play well but Ive never seen them win or draw yet, but hey maybe next season perhaps.

Shawn takes the chairs down to the halfway line, where the sun is out, but its damn well cold, im struggling taking photos and I saw how many I taken,  was quite shocked, though some are a bit shaky.

Before kick off, there is a minutes silence for Dunkirk FC Committee man Dave Howes, who was a great supporter of the Notts Alliance League and the Notts Senior League and has two grandchildren who are registered in the Notts Senior League. It was very sad news to hear of him passing away in midweek and my thoughts go out to all his family and friends.

The match kicks off with the sun out but a biting swirling wind and both sides are pressing forward but it was the Reds who took a early lead on 10 minutes, when JAMES HENRY fires home from 25 yards out. Vineyard werent behind for long as after 16 minutes a ball came to DANIEL HARDING who launches a shot from 30 yards that smacks the underside of the bar before bouncing in to the net to make it 1-1.

Reds pushed forward in this ding dong of a first half and JORDAN OLDIELD curls the ball from 25 yards in to the top corner of the net after 20 minutes to give his team a 2-1 advantage. I am sat there thinking 3 quality goals and only 20 minutes gone.

Back push The Trenters and on 25 minutes, the ball swirls above the Reds keeper and spins on the line, before two defenders clear it to safety, but this is just a warning to the Wellies, as things become level again on 33 minutes, when a massive boot upfield to the right winger sees him on his own and VICTOR COSTA and draws the Reds keeper to lift it over him and in to the net.

The goalkeepers from both sides are called in to action as the game is going from end to end, but then Reds take control of the half just before half time, with mister no number PETER DUNN side footing the ball home to make it 3-2 on 43 minutes and then straight from kick off, the Reds win the ball straight away and JORDAN OLDFIELD scores his second of the game and his sides fourth.

The Second Half sees both sides again attacking but  Im a bit unsure if the players had changed their shooting boots as shot were going well wide and each goalkeeper could have borrowed my chair for much of the half, a good midfield battle was being played b both sides and some good moves as well.

With 12 minutes to go a trip inside the Reds area, sees the young referee point to the spot and up steps JAMES BEAVEN to convert the penalty, so could Vineyard get that vital goal to get them or draw. Sadly not as the clock was ticking down Reds sub beat the offside trap to race clear and slot past the vineyard keeper on 85 minutes to make it 5-3 to finish their home campaign on a win.

Apart from me and our Shawn what a shame there was no neutrals here to watch this fantastic match that was a credit to both clubs and also the NSL.

As you have possibly seen, we reached the total of £1400 for Family Fund Charity so have started the CHILDRENS BEREAVEMENT CENTRE,  this is a bit close to me as I lost a daughter at still birth, then sadly had to bury our 5 day old grandson, with already some donations in as far and with todays 8 goals we have a running total of £65.25p..We do also have Raffle Tickets at a £1 each on sale for the NSL v AC Wollaton match on Saturday 4th June midday start, you can buy raffle tickets, just message me for the charity blog bank details on robhregnsl@hotmail.com
