YOUNG BOATMEN ROW AWAY WITH SENIOR CUP

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Senior Cup Final

AFC DUNKIRK 5 CLIFTON ALL WHITES FCB 1

Att 217

Many thanks for the photo taken by Rob Waite

As in all Nottinghamshire Senior League matches before off there was a minutes silence of respect for 13 year old FC Cavaliers player Samuel Akwasi and Wollaton FC's Luke Davies aka Thorpey.

The game kicked off and it was FCB on the attack whilst their local rivals from just over Clifton Bridge Dunkirk were taking their time getting in to the game.

On 11 minutes though, it was the Boatmen of Dunkirk who took the lead through LIAM HONEYMAN, but Clifton hit back straight away on 18 minutes through JAMIE WILLIAMSON.

Dunkirk upped the pace and on 25 minutes, NOAH EDMUNDS put his side back in the lead, but after 34 minutes their top striker Liam Honeyman had to be replaced due to a injury.

For a while towards the end of the first half, Clifton attacked and went close several times but Dunkirk held on to a 2-1 half time lead.

Out for the Second Half and Dunkirk was straight on the attack and young ROBBIE MANNERS curled the ball from 30 plus yards in to the top corner of the net to make it 3-1 on 46 minutes.

The heat was very hot and you could see some of the young players struggling from both sides, but the boatmen kept going forward and NOAH EDMUNDS netted for the second time on 55 minutes, before on the hour BEN WALLIS made it 5-1 with a shot from outside the area..

The game then became very even but lots of chances for both sides and both keepers were in fine form but there were to be no more goals.

I'd like to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets from this Final as we raised £94 but over the 2 Finals £191 for the charity The CHILDRENS BEREAVEMENT CENTRE.

LATE DRAMA SEES SOLDIERS WIN THE CUP

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Intermediate Cup Final

BESTWOOD COLLIERY FC 1 SHIREBROOK SOLDIERS FC 3

ATT 205

The top two teams from Division Two North went head to head in the Final of the League Intermediate Cup, in the league campaign both had registered a win against each other, so a close affair was expected.

Before the match there was a minutes silence of respect for 2 players that had sadly passed away this pasted week, 13 year old player Samuel Akwasi from FC Cavaliers and Luke Davies aka Thorpey.

The game kicked off and Bestwood were the first to settle and attack and went close a couple of times with the Soldiers making a couple of saves. On 28 minutes a n in to the Shirebrook box, saw a Colliery player bought down and the referee had no option but to point to the spot. Up stepped JAKE FISHER who placed the penalty home to give his side the lead.

Both teams than began to create chances but Colliery held on to the goal advantage going in to half time.

Shirebrook came out for the Second Half and went straight in to the attack and were soon level on 49 minutes when BEN CHARLESWORTH netted.

Each team then went hammer and tongues to get that next goal and each keeper keeping their team in the game, as the game was going from end to end.

The 4th official raised the board with 4 added minutes and the crowd were settling for extra time and possibly penalties, but the team from Shirebrook broke forward with 91 minutes on the clock and KEANE DARBY put them in to the lead which lead to celebrations from all his team mates. The game kicked off and Bestwood threw everyone forward in a last minute effort, but it broke down and it left 4 against 1 for shirebrook and BEN CHARLESWORTH wrapped up the proceedings.

I would like to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets for the Charity Childrens Bereavement Centre which raised £97 plus a donation of £10 from Neil Glenn.

We also have a family fun charity match between a select Notts Senior League squad v AC Wollaton Angels at Basford United FC on Saturday 4th June, gates opening  at midday with several stalls, also a massive raffle with nearly 60 prizes.

SAXONS LIFT THE NSL JUNIOR CUP

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Junior Cup Final

SOUTHWELL CITY DEVELOPMENT FC 2 STAPLEFORD TOWN DEVELOPMENT FC 3

Att: 165 @ Basford United FC

This game kicked off after a minutes silence of respect for the recent loss of Jamie Brough, this looked as if it would be a very tight match but after just 1 minute, a corner from the right hand side was met by the head of OLIVER GRATTON who put the Zebras in front.

They always say that games can have turning points and here it was when after 22 minutes, Southwell could have taken a 2-0 advantage, but Tiiernan Shelvin's penalty was superbly saved by the Stapleford's keeper Liam Shepherd. In the next minute, Shepherd pulled off another excellent save that was heading towards the far corner of the net.

Stapleford were creating chances of their own and on 31 minutes were back on level terms through BRADLEY SCARD.

With half time cuppa not even drunk, out came the players and play was on its way and just like the first half was a early goal, but this time it went Staplefords way when BRADLEY SCARD ran through the defence and slotted it past Nathan Lee in the City goal.

The game then got like a cup final, each player fighting for every ball and the odd coming together, to which ref Ben Hopton handled very well.

In the 85th minute, a free kick was given on the left side, to which Town's BRADLEY HOLMES whipped in, it seemed as if thye keeper had caught it but he misjudged the ball and hit him and went in to the net to extend the Saxon's lead to 3-1.

On 89 minutes, Southwell got a corner on the left side that was swung in and OLIVER GRETTON headed home..The board went up with 5 minutes of added time, was that enough for the Zebras to force the game in to extra time?

Stapleford kept the ball and put it in to the corners as the clock ticked down and they became cup winners as the final whilst blew, a great final played by two very good teams

I mist thank everyone that bought raffle tickets from my wife Hazel at this match for the Charity Childrens Breavement Centre, where she raised £92 plus Jason Cockerham kindly donated £5 as well.

BASFORD HIT EIGHT IN DUNKIRKS LAST STAND

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Development Cup Final

Basford United Development FC 8 AFC Dunkirk Development 0

Att: 89 @ Basford United FC

Last week Basford United appointed a new club chair in Jamie Brough but sadly only two days later Jamie passed away, his son Jude is a Referee in the Notts Senior League and the leagues thoughts went out to all matches today in this sad time of loss to Jude and all his family. A minutes silence was taken at all Notts Senior League matches.

Basford have a team of all under 19's apart from 1 player who was 21 and several have been fringe first team players to give them experiance, whilst AFC Dunkirk also had a team of youth but today was their final match as some of their players will step up in to the AFC Dunkirk squad next season.

The match kicked off at 11am in front of a crowd of 89(plus 1 dog) and it was Basford on the attack straight away and after just 1 minute, the ambers had taken the lead through KIARN NYEMBA.

Basford kept pressing forward and on 11 minutes doubled their lead through RORY HARRISON. Dunkirk were trying to press forward but Basford's defence were holding tight, though the Boatmen did have a couple of efforts on target.

On 23 minutes, it became 3-0 when CHARLIE FOX scored his first of the game.

Basford carried on pushing forward and it looked as if Dunkirk had weathered the storm but after 41 minutes, CHARLE FOX broke through and made it 4-0 and then in the 45th minute he completed his hat trick to make it 5-0.

At Half time subs from both sides were made and the game slowed down a bit and became a bit more even, but in the 70th minute, Basford stepped up the pace again and KIARN NYEMBA made it 6-0.

In 77th minute, Basford sub MASON ENGLAND got in on the goalscoring act when netting and finally the scoring was completed in the 81st minute, when CHARLIE FOX added his 4th goal of the game and grab Man of the match award.

Must thank everyone who bought raffle from the wife with the money going to the charity The Childrens Bereavement Centre, the amount raised at this match was £61.

Also many thanks to match photographer Mick Gretton who took all the photos from the match,  Here are some of this photos from the match, pls just click this LINK
